Design Concept: Water-Inspired Retreat, Seamless Extension & Eclectic Aesthetics This project aims to carve out a private oasis of fluidity for the homeowner amidst the bustling city. Breaking free from traditional dry landscape courtyards, the design uses "water" as the soulful thread connecting the space. Through refined material contrasts, multi-level sunken spaces, and semi-open transitional verandas, it creates an eclectic resort courtyard that blends vintage artistry with modern minimalism. Spatial Layout & Core Functional Zones Floating Island Sunken Lounge & Mirror Pool (Courtyard Oasis & Sunken Lounge) Function: The visual and social heart of the entire courtyard. Clean lines define a rectangular mirror-like wading pool, with suspended concrete stepping stones leading to the "floating island lounge" at its center. Design Highlights: The lounge is fully enclosed in white micro-cement, with waterproof cushions inside. The interplay of shimmering water reflections and the enveloping sense of seclusion offers a luxurious resort experience—reading, savoring wine, or engaging in long conversations around a fire pit at the water's core. Geometric Retro Veranda & Afternoon Tea Area (The Alfresco Veranda) Function: A covered veranda connecting the indoor living room to the outdoor waterscape. The ceiling features modern white latticework and minimalist curved pendant lights. Design Highlights: The floor is paved with large-scale black-and-white geometric mosaic tiles, evoking a strong vintage artistic ambiance. An outdoor French country-style washbasin (adorned with classical art tiles and retro green wooden cabinetry) is embedded along the outer edge, creating a perfect space for shelter from rain or sun and enjoying a French-style afternoon tea. Japanese Maple Terrace & Serene Sunbathing Corner (Sun Deck & Zen Corner) Function: A multi-level wooden terrace at the far end of the courtyard, serving as the visual terminus and a tranquil meditation spot. Features: Stepped levels gracefully resolve the elevation difference. Two luxurious solid-wood outdoor loungers are placed above, beside a solitary, gracefully branching Japanese Maple. The fiery red of the maple, the warmth of the wooden wall, and the textured white low wall together craft a serene corner blending Japanese Zen with modern Nordic aesthetics. Semi-Transparent White Lattice Privacy Screening Lounge (Privacy Screening Lounge) Function: A secondary leisure and yoga/meditation area at the rear of the courtyard. Design Highlights: The backdrop features a modern white lattice screen (Trellis), which cleverly blocks neighboring sightlines (Privacy Screening) while ensuring excellent natural light and ventilation. In front, a single upholstered armchair and a rug are arranged for supreme comfort. Material Functionality & Planting Design Thermal Balance of Four Materials: The opulent artistry of black-and-white geometric tiles, the modern coolness of light stone/micro-cement, the warmth of treated wood decking, and the沉稳 of red brick bases—all four materials achieve harmony through the unifying element of water. The use of perforated breeze blocks is a masterstroke, casting enchanting, shifting patterns of light and shadow. Low-Maintenance, High-Impact Greenery: The planting scheme revolves around "tropical resort vibes" and "Eastern Zen." Around the pool, upright red-edged cordylines, broad-leaved bird of paradise, and potted palms are punctuated. The Japanese Maple serves as the seasonal color focal point, set against a backdrop of tall, natural temperate trees, visually blurring the boundary between the courtyard and the wild expanse of nature.
This project is custom-tailored for homeowners who embrace nature, cherish social interaction, and prioritize a resort-style living experience. The design artfully balances "geometric modernity" with "wild naturalism," extending the indoor living experience seamlessly into sunlight, breeze, and greenery through multi-layered functional zones. 1. Outdoor Covered Walkway & All-Purpose Dining Area (Pergola Multi-Functional Zone) Spatial Function: The pergola features a modern wooden slatted structure offering adjustable shading, with minimalist linear industrial-style pendant lights suspended above. Facilities: Equipped with a long wooden Western dining table seating 8–10 people, an integrated outdoor counter (including double sink, BBQ cooking area, and high-end wooden storage cabinets) on one side, and an enclosed bar area on the other—perfectly supporting morning coffee, business lunches, or formal evening banquets. 2. Enclosed Fire Pit Social Hub (Fire Pit & Lounge Area) Spatial Function: Adopting a curved sunken concept, laid with a round dark gray rug and featuring an elegant set of extra-long curved modular sofas in off-white. Design Highlight: A custom circular wood-burning fire pit sits at the center, with neatly stacked firewood below serving both as practical fuel and a rustic natural landscape installation, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for evening conversations. 3. Italian-Inspired Outdoor Kitchen & Fireplace Lounge Spatial Function: Positioned at the apex of the courtyard's central axis, creating a striking visual focal point. Facilities: A pure white micro-cement geometric structure integrates an embedded fireplace and a traditional arched Italian pizza oven. In front, woven rattan lounge chairs blend the rustic charm of the Italian countryside with modern understated luxury. 4. Zen-Inspired Stone Path & Swing Meditation Area Spatial Function: A tranquil corner carved out by plants and architectural shadows. Design Highlight: A minimalist outdoor double swing bed with a canopy rests on a wooden deck. Behind it, a white low landscape wall features regular geometric breeze blocks for light and airflow. In front, rows of upright conical cypress trees and purple lavender create a serene, elegant modern Zen relaxation space.
This scheme seamlessly blends the elegance of modern Mediterranean design with the principles of sustainable xeriscaping, creating a luxurious, low-maintenance, and socially engaging outdoor sanctuary for fast-paced modern living. The design fully leverages the magnificent natural canyon views in the background, fostering a harmonious coexistence between the built environment and nature. Leisure Terrace Area: Minimalist gray modular sofas paired with a white minimalist fire pit table create a serene social atmosphere, perfect for evening drinks and extended conversations. Pergola Dining Area: Beneath a grand wooden pergola, a complete outdoor kitchen is installed, featuring a stone-clad pizza oven and an extra-long solid wood dining table. This serves as the central social hub of the courtyard, seamlessly supporting everything from family breakfasts to formal dinners. Meditation Water Feature Space: A uniquely polished stainless steel sculpture echoes the cascading stepped water feature. The gentle sound of flowing water not only dissolves ambient noise but also brings a visual sense of coolness and tranquility.
This design aims to blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, treating the courtyard as an extension of the "outdoor living room." Through enclosed landscaping and the arrangement of multiple living scenarios, it creates an immersive natural space for socializing, meditation, and wellness while ensuring privacy.
The design focuses on creating an all-weather outdoor living space, where contrasting hard paving and soft lawn edges form a clean, orderly, and highly inviting private domain. The courtyard is clearly divided into three core functional zones: a poolside sunbathing area, a covered dining area, and a fire pit social zone. This layout is connected by geometric stone pathways, ensuring visual continuity while maintaining functional independence.
The interplay between the imposing presence of architectural volume and the softness of landscape lighting. This project aims to reshape the tropical resort experience under the night sky through extreme geometric language and dramatic light-and-shadow design. The design focuses not only on natural daylighting during the day but also on the transformation of spatial ambiance from dusk to late night, creating a serene, profound, and secure high-end living atmosphere. It crafts a private sanctuary that balances functionality and artistry.
